Has anyone got reloading specs for a .223 with a Sierra 53 gr. HP MatchKing? I can locate recipes for a 50 or 55 gr load, but not for the 53gr.

Use 55 gr data to work up your load, 2 grs isn't very significant. Make sure you use the suggested start level or 10% less than the listed maximum if there's no suggested start load.

Check with Sierra, if they sell a bullet they have a load for it. I have emailed the tech dept in the past with good results for a few loads.

According to my book, The Complete Reloading Manual for the .223 Remington, you have alot of options for the 53gr. HP MatchKing bullet. It lists the Accuracy load as using 26.9gr. of H335 which would give you 3300fps and 1282 of Ft. lbs. Here are some other loads:

1. AA-2230 23.7gr./3000fps, 24.4gr./3100fps, and 25.1gr./3200fps
2. Varget 24.3gr./2900fps, 25.1gr./300fps, 25.9gr./3100fps, and 26.7gr./3200fps
3. Viht N130 20.9gr./3000fps, 21.8gr./3100fps, and 22.7gr./3200fps

My book lists the same data above for the 52gr. HPBT MatchKing as well. If you have a particular powder you are using PM me and I will see if it is listed in my book.:D

I almost forgot....the data I gave you is for a bolt action rifle. Here is the same powder but for an AR-15:

1. AA-2230 23.6gr./2800fps, 24.4gr./2900fps, and 25.2gr./3000fps, and 25.6gr./3050fps
2. Varget 25.1gr./2700fps, 25.9gr./2800fps, 26.7gr./2900fps, 27.5gr./3000fps-->No more data for Varget
3. Viht N130 21.1gr./2800fps, 21.9gr./2900fps, and 22.7gr./3000fps-->No more data for Viht N130

Again, PM me if you have a particular powder and I will see if it is listed.:D
