First, I am an old member with a new name - - computer problems.
In a recently locked thread the senario of confronting a criminal who has taken a family member hostage was discussed. I think there were several members who believe this to be silly to even discuss. This is understandable given the low chance of occurance. Having said this, I actually knew someone who had to deal with this situation.
The grandparents of one of my old girlfriends owned a fish market. The husband and wife worked together. Well, one day they were robbed by 2 individuals and to make a long story short, the wife was held hostage at knife point. The husband was armed with a handgun and did successfully kill the hostage taker. Presumably, this was by a shot to the head. He may have also shot the other robber, but I don't remember.
So, my point is that some of these less likely defensive issues do warrant discussion.
