What does everyone think of the rossi 38 special. My wifes great grandfather gave her the pistol. It seems to be a solid little gun. It aint as accurate as i would like but, its a smooth trigger and not much to handle. Is it a keeper or should she get rid of it. There is no sentimental feelings in this gun. It was just a simple gift.

James T., the Rossi .38sp (Brazilian) in a snub-nose was my first gun purchase after I left the service many, many years ago. It shot well for a short-barrel and I kept it for some 30 years....Sold it to my regret...
Hope you enjoy yours regardless of barrel length...If you get a chance, a pic would be nostalgic for me....:)

James, it is a keeper.

I bought a used Rossi model 68 2" snub last month. Very accurate, but a DA trigger that is not as smooth as I'd like. Relatively inexpensive, it is a S&W model 36 clone or copy. Rossi is now owned by another Brazilian gun maker: Taurus.

Here is a relevant thread in the revolver section of THR . . .

I've a Rossi M88, a snubby .38 Special. Pretty accurate, but has a hard-to-manage DA trigger.

I carry it when I'm not in the mood to carry my 1911.

I love mine. It has had trigger work which sounds like that was a good idea. Keep it clean and it will be reliable.
