What are your suggestions as to the best .38 Special ammunition to use in a .357 revolver? This will basically serve as my cheaper range ammo.

Thanks.

I've used both CCI Aluminum and Remington 158gr SP +p rounds. It depends on how much recoil you are wanting to avoid. It also depends on what your weapon prefers. I would suggest buying boxes of several different varieties of cheap 38 rounds and testing them.

This is great, but sold out.

Note the web site. These come up as they restock. The nickled brass is good, as is the lead bullets which are more slippery than copper jackets and have higher velosity at .38 speeds.

Fiocchi .357 Wadcutters. .38 Power, .357 length shell.
Or even better load .38 powered rounds using .357 shells.

I love Remington UMC 130 gr. fmj rounds. They are relatively accurate and clean in both my 19-3 and SP101. They are also really soft shooting.

The most accurate .38sp ammo I've tried in my Dan Wesson is CCI Blazer 158g LRN. I've had sub 2" groups at 25 yds from a bench. It's also about the cheapest for plinking.

Strangely, it does not like wadcutters, and sprays them in a shotgun pattern. The most accurate .357 load is the old Rem Express 158g SJHP.

4.8 gr of 231 under a 158 gr Xtreme Bullets copper plated RNFP in Starline brass with WSP. Or thereabouts.

I love Remington UMC 130 gr. fmj rounds.

These have little or no lead dust as they are FMJ.

I love Remington UMC 130 gr. fmj rounds.
I buy them in the 250 round bulk packs and shoot almost nothing else for practice. (don't forget to run a patch or two through your barrel with copper solvent)
