Sad
Sadder that no gun grabbers will read it.

If I walked into Huge-Mart and slipped and fell on a grape which was on the floor, I can walk into any number of attorney's office and talk about a lawsuit.

Yet, because of the law a business can typically opt out of permitting a licensed CCH holder access to their property. I am completely and four-square in favor local opt out laws all based in my view of private property. Where I have the problem is if something evil happens and I am unarmed, me or my survivors have no recourse against any establlishment for causing me to be unarmed when it was clearly necessary. We have no access to civil court for redress of grievance caused by the property owner.

In my world I think it would be perfectly acceptable for a property owner to locally opt out of CCH laws. However, there has to be a countervailing force. Opt out but you run the risk of financial loss is someone is killed or injured as a result of your decisions.

Sad, sad story but it does point out a real problem.

This is something that I've thought about as well. Seems to me that if a business owner does not want me armed in their store, that is their decision. However, since the owner decided that I should not be allowed to protect myself, the responsibility has shifted to him to protect me. If I am injured as a result of not being allowed to protect myself, it is entirely reasonable that the store owner be held accountable in court.

Too bad logic rarely plays a part in people's decisions to restrict personal safety and freedom. I do my best not to do business with people that are anti-self defense.

It is not their decision.

Public establishments may be private property, but they're called public establishments for a reason. You can't kick someone out because they're white, yellow, or black; why should you be able to kick someone out because they want to carry tools with which they can better defend themselves?

Sams? Costco? Unless they're checking membership cards on the way in, which they didn't last time I was in them, they're public.

I don't do business with anti-Second Amendment bigots. If they don't trust me, I don't trust them. If they don't respect the Bill of Rights, I don't respect them.
