Hello everyone...I'm interested in knowing which pistols are comprable to the HK USP .45 in full size...I'm looking for one that holds 10 rounds or more of .45ACP with the ability to switch from SA to DA. Thanks all!

I dont think there will be very many more. I think that the closest is some of the high cap 1911s. Though I dont really know of any high cap 1911s that are DA/SA.

A Hi-Point.:neener: I am not a H&K fan. Ok, ok, how about a Wildey chambered in .45 win mag? I have one and boy, it is just about perfect in every respect, except it is a little heavy.

Well I was very interested in the HK USP .45, but I thought I should consider others...I like the hammer style pistols as opposed to the Glock, XD, etc. that are DAO. Magazine capacity (10 minimum) is important along with accuracy and durability. I do like the Sigs, but the 8 magazine capacity makes it less attaractive to me.

I'll throw in another vote for an EAA Witness .45 or a CZ 97.

It's not DA/SA but I would give strong look to the Springfield XD-45 ACP. With 13+1 it's a tough one to beat, especially with price in the equation. The safety features are nice and it's a breeze to break down and clean. Tough reliable gun too.
Good luck. :)

If it fits your hand the CZ97 will put the HK to shame.
Super accurate 45 with 10 rounds for $200 less than an HK.

Ability to switch from SA to DA. Do you mean that is in DA/SA (AKA Traditional DA - TDA) where the first shot is DA (hammer down, lowered with a decocker) and subsequent shots are SA? Or are you wanting something that can be carried SA cocked & locked (hammer back, safety engaged) or DA/SA in the same gun like the USP's 3 position safety/decocker lever?
If you want a safety/decocker rolled into one the USP variant that does that is pretty much your only option. As far as I know the CZ-97 and EAA Witness pistols that are DA/SA and allow you carry cocked & locked do not have a decocker. To carry those pistols DA/SA you must manually lower the hammer on a live round - not something I recommend doing. Taurus does offer a 3 position safety/decocker like the USP's on their metal frame model 945, but it's an 8 round single stack.
If you want DA/SA (TDA) in a .45 ACP FN is now chambering their FNP in 45 ACP with a 14 round capacity, and it should be in stores soon http://www.fnhusa.com/products/firearms/model.asp?fid=FNF020&gid=FNG001&mid=FNM0061 . All other pistols I know of in 45 ACP that have exposed hammers and are DA/SA have single stack magazines with capacities under 10 rounds.
Hopefully all that helps.

I have both a USP-45 and an EAA .45 Witness full size steel frame. The Witness has been 100% reliable and pretty accurate. Not quite as accurate as the USP but it will still hold it's own. The grip isn't all that bad even for smaller hands which is a benefit over the CZ97. I guess the only complaint about it would be that it's a heavy gun and I think the recoil spring is a little light. I replaced mine with a heavier Wolff spring and haven't had any problems with function but a lot of the primer wipe problems went away. If I had to get rid of one or the other, I'd keep my HK but my Witness wouldn't be the first gun I'd get rid of either.

While not a ten round shooter, MY West German SIG-SAUER .45 ACP
P220A out shot several H&K-F's in .45ACP during departmental
qualifications. Then, when runn'in the SIG and MY .45 ACP H&K-F
side by side; the SIG won again~!;) :D

Dittos on the Witness, but I have a Tanfoglio. I have one with a compensator, lets just say that my Makarov is snappier than that. Its a great shooter.
