I'm going to use the SW99 as my carry gun, so I'm looking for some extra mags. Question 1) Can I get more than 10rds or is that all I can do? Question 2) More importantly if I can only get 10s can I get them someplace cheaper than from S&W @ $39.96 each?

Try CDNN (http://www.cdnninvestments.com/smithwesson.html) or Kieslers (http://www.kieslersonline.com/product/ko_WaltherMags.asp?navback=index.asp) or here (http://www.gothammarketing.com/ikon/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=20;t=722).

well there is a big throw up on if there were any true pre-ban .40 mags out there. no one has any proof there isnt, at the same time no proof there is. so id err on the side of the law actualy. cdnn has factory mags for almost the cheapest around.

my question is are the promag's worth a flip or not? i want atleast 2 more mags maybe 3 to make it so i can load up a full box of shells at a time. Just are the promags up to decent stanards to cause no failures like the factory mags have afforded me so far.... oh well.

if you can get your hands on pre bans that have an actual date stamp on them....grab them :D cause not many are around if at all

Now keep in mind I don't own a P99 so I'm pretty much talking out my butt here, but I can say that I've used Promags extensively with my Ruger semi-autos and have experienced no failures at all with them. Of course, the P99 Promags may be complete garbage! :neener:

From ATF dated 09/16/02.
Re: Walther P99/.40 12 round magazines.

"A magazine manufactured after Spetember 13, 1994, having a capacity of more than 10 rounds, is a "large capacity feeding device" as that term is defined in section 921(a)(31) of Title 18, United States Code. Transfer ans possession of a "large capacity ammunition feeding device" is prohibited un 18 U.S.C. section 922(w). Since the 12 round Walther P99 .40 S&W mags were made after September 13, 1994, they are prohibited".

Also from around the same time frame from Earl J. Sheehan, Jr. of Earl's Repair Service in MA:

"There is however NO legal P99 .40S&W mags (12 shot), only LE, as this caliber was introduced in 1999".

Sort of settles this...well there is a big throw up on if there were any true pre-ban .40 mags out there. no one has any proof there isnt, at the same time no proof there is. so id err on the side of the law actualy.

When my web site, mostly on Walther pistols, was up and running, I posted this along with other pertinent information about Walther P99 magazines.

So...so id err on the side of the law actualy is a wise course of action.
