I'm planning on attending the Indy 500 show with a buddy, and he's wanting to know if there's any prohibition against an Ohio resident buying a handgun in Indiana. I don't know, tho rifle sales are obviously fine.

Anyone know??

Thx...

As a matter of federal and state law, yes.

Please note that rifle sales are not "obviously fine." Only fine if bought from an FFL who knows the laws in buyer's home state and is willing to make the sale. Vast majority will not.

I've been to probably 50 or more gun shows in Indiana in my time, bought a large number of long guns from dealers. Never, not even once, did anyone refuse to sell to me.

I'm not a handgun guy, hence my initial question, but I'm not worried about buying long guns in Indiana. Been there, done that.

Saxon, Ohio has very similar, and leniant laws concerning long guns - no waiting, etc. So, it's usually no big deal at all.

We just got back from the show and I bought 1 long gun, my friend bought 2, all from 3 different FFL's and none of them minded the out of state thing.
