About what year did S&W stop case hardening the hammer and trigger and cease pinning the barrel?

1983 for the pinned Bbls--
I think they went to MIM parts in 96--not positive--

S&W still case-hardens the trigger and hammer. On the current MIM parts you get that ugly dark mottled coloring instead of the blue and straw coloring that the forged parts attained.

Per the book Standard Catalog Of Smith & Wesson, 2nd edition by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas Smith & Wesson
ceased production of pinned barrel's and recessed
chamber's in 1982; on all model's!:uhoh:
