I have never had one of those screws loosen, but S&W now uses some red locking glue on the threads.

I think you will find that it is much easier to clean the revolver by taking out the screw and removing the cylinder each time. You will be surprised by how much lighter the gun is without the cylinder.

RUN - - Don't walk!

- - to the nearest lottery and buy a ticket.

I've never in my life been lucky enough to find something like a small screw that went south.

Ditto to what the database guy (Bill - dot_mdb) says. It's way easier to clean a revolver by removing the cylinder.

What's REALLY interesting is pulling the gun out of the safe for the regular 'wipedown', (ok, I fondle them) ;) opening the cylinder, and having the entire cylinder assy FALL out!!! :what:> > > > :cuss: You're right, it IS a lot lighter without the cylinder!! Anyway, I was sitting, so it only fell a foot or so, and hit the carpet.. No damage, and the screw was still in the frame, just REAL loose..

:scrutiny: Check those screws folks!! :scrutiny:

It doesn't count if you find the missing screw or spring quickly and easily.

Haven't lost a screw out of a handgun, but my recoil spring/guide went flying accross the room once from my Springfield Champion 1911-A1. Took me about 15 minutes to find them...spring rolled under the kitchen china cabinet....

But Standing Wolf is right doesn't count if you can find it quickly and easily.

Sort of like the guy applying for the watch/clock repair tech's job...
"Got any experience?"
"5 Years"
"5 Years on the bench?"
"No, 6 months on the bench, 4-1/2 years on the floor looking for parts..."
