Does anyone use the Springfield XD, especially the subcompact, as their CCW?
If so, opinions please...
Also, a price check for a new XD subcompact.
:D :D :D
Thanks...

I use the service model 357 Sig in a Bladetech IWB. It's not too bad. It's not as thin as my Colt Officer's Model, but it is pretty comfortable.

My XD9 SubCom retailed for $419. I have made it my primary CCW gun and am very pleased with it. I've fired 100 rounds of Hydrashock and about 600 rounds of Winchester White box through it so far. I've had no problems at all with either round and carry the gun with cofidence. The gun is about the same size as Glock 26 to give you an idea about what you are looking at. I can produce about the same results shooteing the SubCom as I can my full size XD 40. Yes I like these guns so much I have two. THe XD 40 mags work in the Subcom so you can have a VERY strange looking HI Cap. I would highly recomend the XD's because they are reasonably prices, reliable, easy to field strip and in my opinion more accurate than me.

Do that make the XD subcompact in .40 or just 9mm?

The subcompact is only in 9mm at the moment although I'm sure they will soon have it in the .40. The slide is shorter than the Glock subcompacts but the grip is longer. Nice combination of features IMO and I want one.

I have the standard model, 9mm. I carry it everywhere, more comfortable than it looks.

Problem is the grip is the hardest part to conceal. Granted the XD9 subcompact is nevertheless fairly easy to conceal, I still think I can conceal my G26 easier.
I haven't gotten the subcompact yet; I do have the full size and have carried it with relatively little trouble.

I agree. That's why I don't really understand the popularity of magazine extensions on baby glocks. Seems to defeat the whole purpose.

I carry an XD 4 inch service model in 357sig for my primary CCW gun, I also carry a S&W 686 2 1/2inch barrel. Also a COLT XSE Government enhanced model. When I wear the XD with a tee shirt and light summer shirt you cannot tell Ive got a gun on, the Colt is the hardest to hide for me. I use a Fist #8 close cropped for the XD and its a great holster. Holds it very close to your body.

Mag extensions do defeat the whole purpose. When I'm carrying my 26, the mag in the gun has a standard factory floorplate. My spares wear Pearce magazine extensions. For that matter, I have the same setup for my Kahr PM9 (quite a bit thinner than the 26, but less capacity and only slightly easier to hide). I'm really puzzled by those that buy the 26, then use 19 or 17 mags with spacers. They get the extra capacity, but they might as well be carrying the bigger guns.
