It's an Italian revolver. You want one?? Mandall's Shooting Supplies (http://www.mandallshooting.com) has one for about $800!! Give 'em a call. Ask for Howard. :D

Do a search on "Mateba" here and at TFL; lots of threads on the guns.

Is it any good? I have been staring at this thing all night long. My wife had to get me a drool cup.

Depends.

Good for what?

As a range toy/target gun, they're the bee's knees. You'll be the only kid on your block with one, too, probably. Probably the mildest way to shoot stout 158gr .357 ammo this side of an N-frame. The fit and finish is nice, and they are beautifully blued.

Downsides are that they're kinda awkward to get the cylinder open and closed on, and are an absolute bear to reassemble after field-stripping.

Cool thank you guys for the input. Tamara it appears you have fired one. Did you lik it? Is it accurate? I have a feeling I am going to have to own one of these real soon.

I own one and love it.

The barrel is at the six o'clock position and the semi action is so quick you'll never see it since it only recoils back maybe a quarter inch.

No muzzle flip, instant collectable, deep beautiful blue and French walnut grips.

The down side is the ejector is flimsy. That's the only thing I can think of that I didn't like.

I think I paid 640 for my six inch .357.

Oh yeah, it's accurate as hell and the full adjustments are on the front sight since the barrels are replacable with the included wrench. Extra springs are included for the transition between .38 and 357.

They're pretty funky. I only got to handle and shoot Tamara's Mateba, but my limited experience tells me that they're mild shooters and very well made. The finish is gorgeous, the action is relatively smooth, and the design is definitely unique. Some cynics say that the Mateba combines the worst features of the automatic (ammo sensitivity) with the worst features of the revolver (low capacity and slow reload speed). In order to switch from Magnums to Specials, you have to replace the main spring to retain the self-cocking SA feature of the gun. The cylinder latch is awkward, and the DA trigger is a bit stiff.

Then again, a 4" Mateba in .44 Magnum would make a pretty eclectic carry gun. It would be very Akira.
