I have a set of these XS big dot sites on my Glock and i like them.

Any one have an opionions about the effectiveness of this type of site compared to a standard three dot? Are LEO's or military types using them? Also, would you consider them a good choise for a carry gun?

I like them alot. I find them to be very fast. I personally call them "speed sights". They seem great for CC, but I hear they dont do so good past about 15 yards. For quick short range shooting Id use them.

I went to Cabelas and bought them..they are adverstised on their website as well. $109.99.

There was a video on this website posted where some guy had a Glock 19 fitted with them and was shooting some metal target at 100 yards (standing bent over and shooting upside down), if I remember correctly.

So they are precise, but I just usually practice with paper plates at closer range.

They work at distances too.

The sights look pretty good to me, but trick shooting with video editing and re-takes doesnt prove much.

I think I could occasionally hit a metal plate that size at 100 yards with NO sights on my Glock.

I bought a Kahr PM9 that came with the Big Dot sites. Shot really low with what I considered a normal sight picture (lollipop on top of stick), and that was at 7 yards.

I could "adjust" for it, but it was different from anything else I shoot.

I got some plain ol' tritium sights and now it shoots to POA without any mental "adjustment" required. Just like evrything else.

Just my .02.

Lone Gunman, I know him and have seen him do that drill. He doesn't have to resort to editing.

Back to the topic. I've tried the sights on my carry guns and each time I end up going back to Meps. I like them fine, just like the meps a little better. I'm not a fast shooter with either system. I am pretty accurate with the meps, though.

Interesting about shooting low. When i first installed my Big Dots i went ahead and jacked up the rear site with the little screws until the site was stuck in tight which left a gap between the bottom of the site and the top of the slide.

I just filled in the gap with the red goo that came with the sites, and although it took about a week to finaly set it works perfect now. The more of the front site that i use the more accurate it is. i guess that how they were intended to be used? oh and i usualy shoot low and to the left but with a little tweaking on the rear site (left to right) it now works perfect for me.

TT, the way it's been explained to me, we're supposed to get to where we ignore the rear sight and rely totally on the big dot sights. That will obviously be the fastest.

GoCart, i totaly agree. this site set up has given me alot of confidence.

do you know if that guy in the video uses XS sites exlusively?

He does. It's one of the few modifications he endorses.

Hmm... near the end of the video he admitted he had missed some, and laughed it off. I am not ragging on him, just repeating what he seemed to be saying.

I have the 24/7 Big Dot's on both G19's and the G17. I use the 17 in 3 gun matches, and carry one of the G19's, the other has a Glock Light for night time forays. I love the Big Dots, and have engaged and neutralized targets at 40+ yards with the G17. I think they are the fastest sights for me that I have ever used.

I believe that at short distances you are supposed to cover the target with the dot(aim a little high) and at longer distances you are supposed to put the dot just under the target.

i had a set on my 19 and they were really neat, i liked them alot but i got rid of the glock, so the sights went with it. i do prefer 3 dot sights to all others out there, i think they are the most versatile. but the big dots are great for close in ccw type of work, they get on target fast and they are great night sights as well. i will probally get another set to go on one of my xd's one day when the money is avaliable.

The Big Dot is very fast for quick work up close. At close range ignore the rear sight, put the big front dot on target and shoot. Very fast.

When using three white dot or three dot night sights for this kind of shooting this is how I do it also. The Big Dot is nice for this as it is BIG.

We are not shooting a group here, just trying to get one shot on target as fast as possible.

I prefer three white dot sights for day shooting overall.
