Questions about building an AK pistol

Hey, I've read some things about the value (expense and sentimental) of building one's own AK. I'd like a pistol. Does anyone know if that's actually feasible? Anyone had experience with it?

It can be done. Just keep the barrel down below 16" and make your own receiver. I believe they're usually referred to as "Krinkov" pistols and using that term might further your use of a search engine.

I didn't build mine myself, but it's a good one.
The barrel is 11 inches. Seems like a good length. Very reliable, accurate and still get's 2,200-2,250fps.

J&G sales sell AK pistols and they are pretty neat I went down and looked at one just the other day. The problem I have with them is the fact you can't legally put a stock on them, unless of course you have a class 3. Still they must be pretty fun to shoot.

No federal license required, just an approved Form 1 (http://www.atf.gov/forms/pdfs/f53201.pdf).

Is that the same type of form you need to own suppressed?
You use a Form 1 (http://www.atf.gov/forms/pdfs/f53201.pdf) when making an NFA firearm, you use a Form 4 (http://www.atf.gov/forms/pdfs/f53204.pdf) when buying an NFA firearm.
Class three is just full auto right?
It includes AOWs, destructive devices, machineguns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and suppressors.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can't ue a vertical foregrip with an AK/AR pistol - is this true?

BATFE is of the opinion that a pistol with a vertical foregrip is an AOW.

How hard these pistols are to shoot both from a weight perspective (my forearms are not built like Popeye's) and from a recoil perspective?

About like shooting a AK rifle from the hip.
They are actually quite mild. Nothing like shooting a pistol grip shotgun.
