Just watched this film on DVD starring Forrest Whitaker and Ozzie Davis. Excellent. :cool:

It really hit home on how gun control found a home, in the effort to disarm blacks in the south during the civil rights movement in the mid sixties. Definite RKBA movie. Anybody see this film yet?

Seems like a great program. I started reading some of the files, but only managed to get to page 1287. I wonder why the review chose to describe the group's actions this way:armed themselves with heavy artillery It seems like the film is pro-RKBA, but the review is not.

Thank you, Nightwatch and Cliff. I've been looking for information on the Deacons for years. We were very aware of them when I was growing up in Miss. in the '60s. I have made the argument in several places that their ability to be armed was what made the difference between the South in the '60s and Argentina in the '70s.

Correction: Deacons FOR Defense.

Review note: I think the "Heavy Artillery" it referred was the automatic large cal machine guns and the grenades they had access to. It was a poor review but there is tons of stuff on this group on the search engines, especially the investigation materials now available to the public. It is an inspiring movie though.
