Found a big heavy barrel for my TC in .454 Casul. Will .45LC also shoot in it? Thanks! Heard you can shoot .45lc in a .454 Casul. If so I may buy it they want $239.00 for it and it has a TC illu ret scope on it was well.

Yes, just like shooting 38spl in a 357magnum or 44spl in a 44magnum, just clean the chamber real good.

My Ruger Super Redhawk 454 is a real pussycat when shooting standard 45lc loads.

Seems like a good deal for the barrel and scope. Barrel looks like new. I doubt he shot a 454 casull very much. I may buy it tomorrow and take it pig hunting instead of my .357 barrel.

BTW it is a 14in bull TC barrel.

JMO - but due to the slightly increased bullet 'jump' there may be a small loss of accuracy - but probably not enough matter much.

Since bullet is travelling much slower, the point of impact can be much higher as the gun has more time to recoil before the bullet leaves the barrel. If I shoot 44SPL in a 44MAG, I can accidentally shoot off target hangers on indoor 25 yard ranges. Don't ask how I know!

First, while all cartridge nominal diameters are the same, the 454 chamber is tighter than a 45 Colt chamber while the 45 Colt cartridge is not usually held to quite as tight tolerances as the 454 so there is a possibility you might find the odd 45 Colt that will not chamber. This is the reason they recommend reloading with a 454 sizing die and not a 45 Colt die. I ran into a problem loading cast 45 Colt bullets in 454 cases. The cast bullets were a bit oversized and the loaded cartridge would not chamber in the 454 until we ran it through the sizing die a second time.

Second, and applying to all situations where a short case will fit a long chamber, I prefer to use long brass, regardless of how hot a load I'm using. For example I put up 38 Special level loads in 357 mag brass for my 357. Avoids building up a ring that if not cleaned out will prevent proper case expansion with a long case and lead to higher pressure.
