I'm interested in learning who produces leather recoil pads. There are actually two styles that I'm wondering about. The first is the standard leather-covered recoil pad. Who makes these or offers this as a service? The second is all-leather recoil pad. I have heard that the turn-of-the-century European gun makers used to stamp pieces of leather out in the basic shape of the butt-stock, layer them together (using some sort of adhesive) until the desired length was met, treat the leather, and finally shape and mold the pad to fit the gun. This seems like an antiquated practice nowadays BUT VERY COOL. Does anybody know if this service is still offered somewhere?
