I think I was just not thinking. I was looking for a new barrel for my maverick 88. All the ads say that the mossberg 500 barrels fit the six shot capacity maverik 88 shotguns.

I thought mine was considered a 5 shot model because the magazine tube fit 5 shells. I assumed the ads would say 5+1 rather than six shot capacity. I went to the maverik 88 website and they only sell 6 & 8 shot capacity guns. I'm assuming the 5+1 guns are labeled 6 shot models when barrels are concerned.

Will someone please confirm my stupididy and tell me the six shot 12GA barrels will fit my 5+1 maverik 88.

Mossberg and maverick both count the chambers in their capacities, so the six/eight shot capacities you're seeing at their websites is 5+1/7+1.

The 88/500 barrels are interchangable.
