I took the grips off my security six and there is a little pin that floats in a larger pin that goes through the frame and into the grips. Why do they put that little extra pin in there???
Thanks,
Mike

The little pin is a take down tool. Cock the hammer and you will see a small hole in the hammer strut. The little pin goes in that hole. Release the hammer and you can remove the spring assembly.
Iwould contact Ruger and have them send you an owners manual, it's free and covers disassembly really well.

Yep .... Snowshoe has nailed that perfectly. If that gets lost a small length of music wire will do fine also.

BTW with factory grips you can used the rim of a 357 shell as a screwdriver to take off the grips
