None of them peak my interest because they originate from people who need serious psychological help. All joking aside, the "conspiracy theories" that the internet has actually given serious credence to are the work of paranoid schizophrenics. Anyone seen the movie "A Beautiful Mind"? Some are the work of people who have such drab, humdrum lives, they invent fantasies to make them seem more exciting. This can also be a mental illness called "Baron von Munchausen Syndrome". Some are the work of people who need to "invent" a reason as to why they have done nothing with their lives---"It's the government's fault!"
There was a guy where I worked that actually believed the 9/11 hijackers were CIA agents and that the whole thing was planned by the CIA. To this, he added, "If you knew what I knew about the government..." So, how exactly does he know more than I know? Good question. Other things he "knows": The contrails from jet aircraft are government chemical warfare experiments. (Look up "contrail" and "chemtrail" on the net and see for yourself! ) The government is experimenting in controlling the weather at a acility called HAARP in Alaska. I recently heard from someone who still talks to this guy that he says the government started SARS from a secret CDC facility in China (yeah, that's what I thought, too---it's "secret", but this guy knows about it. ) He also says that the government is run by Freemasons (that's actually a "Golden Oldie" among the wackadoos, that and the Jews.) Also, the money has micro-tracking devices in them.
What these people need is to get psychiatric help. They need to realize that it is not the government that is the problem. It is themselves. Look up "tinfoil hat" on the net and you'll find people that actually believe the government is conducting mind-control experiments on them. Yes these people need help. Some of them just need to get a life. Some need to realize that, yes, you will live a failed life if all you do is sit around your house reading the Weekly World News, surfing tinfoil-hat websites, and smoking pot all day long. That's not the government's fault. That's THEIR fault.

I can't say much about the twin towers attacks, but I saw the cnn video of the "plane" crashing into the pentagon. There is no visible plane, and the timestamp on the video is from the next day, and not even the right time (whatever it was, something like 10am?). There's no visible pentagon damage where the wings would have impacted the building. And I haven't heard from anyone I know and/or trust who was in the area and saw a plane hit the pentagon. There's the issue of where the plane went - no distinct pieces were visible in any of the crash photos I've seen.
All of these elements are not conclusive; they don't prove to my satisfaction that there was no plane crash at the pentagon. They simply don't provide reasonable proof that there was.
There's a website still up... google for "hunt the boeing."

For people that actually believe those "conspiracy theories" such as that, check your local Yellow pages under "Physicians" and find yourselves a good mental health professional.
It isn't like a cartoon where Daffy Duck crashes through a wall and leaves a perfect cookie-cutter image of himself hole in the wall. Looking for where the "wings went" isn't plausible because the building fell and burned in all places where it was struck.

My interest is neither piqued nor peaked, but some of them are, briefly, good for a chuckle or two. Most prompt me to flee the thread, frequency, channel, or publication presenting them, the people, too, if that is socially acceptable.

I have a good friend, Col "Lightning Bob" who is on the AF staff who was there. Luckily far from the impact point. He says an airplane hit them. I believe him.

IIRC, Solicitor General Olson's wife, Barbara, was on the plane that hit the Pentagon and he spoke to her on her cell phone shortly before it did. One need only check the passenger manifest of the plane that struck the Pentagon and find out that, yes, the plane DID hit the Pentagon. It's not in the Bermuda Triangle. It's not sitting next to Amelia Earhart's plane. A planeload of people just don't "disappear" and a big, gaping, burning hole in the Pentagon suddenly "appear".

How about the conspiracy among the hijackers and their handlers in the Middle East? There's one to look into, when we unravel that we might tie up enough loose ends to to keep another major attack from happening for awhile.
Or are you suggesting that there was another conspiracy?

One of the most frightening aspects of some other shooters that really troubles me are when those shooters are conspiracy theory proponents. When they start getting into the paranoid mode and are broadcasting their paranoid fears to others, I start to understand why anti gun folks are troubled by gun owners. Unfortunately, the anti gun folks group all gun owners together under the same paranoid lunatc umbrella.

I am leary of anyone who endorses complex, twisted conspiracy theories. Remember Occam's razor.

No theory ... just the following ...
1) Our govt had information that Islamic terrorists had plans to hijack planes and crash them into buildings for ten years before 9-11
2) There were warnings that "something big" was going to happen the summer of 2001
3) FBI agents wanting to investigate suspicious Arabs taking lessons at American filight schools was squashed - either through unbelievable incompetence at high levels or ....?
4) Patriot Act - how convenient
5) We're taking scissors from little old ladies at airports. but the Bush adm refused to take action to arm pilots until Congress forced it on them
6) The "justice" dept wants to spy on our own citizens, but our borders are still basically wide open
Somehow, I just don't believe that the feral govt has our best interests at heart.

I guess you've missed the security video tapes of the plane impacting the Pentagon. They're multiple snap stills, not live action video, but they still very distinctly show an airplane where it shouldn't be hitting a building that it shouldn't have.
There were also HUNDREDS of people who saw the plane impact the Pentagon from roads around the site such as I-395 and Route 10. Obviously, though, ALL of these people were "gotten to" by the shadow forces of XLQ2732!, which controls conspiracy generation for the Matrix, er... United States Government.
As for visible damage from the wings, you watch too many cartoons, my friend.
As for no distinct pieces being visible... Take a hollow tube, crash it into a solid walled but also hollow object at nearly 450 MPH (I think that's how roughly how fast the jet was going), and sift through the remains. You're NOT going to have any distinct pieces that you can see. Virtually all of the debris will be inside the building, buried under the rubble. What remains outside of the building will be very small and very likely widely scattered, in other words, not readily recognizable as aircraft debris.
There's some BEAUTIFUL "conspiracy" photographs out on the web on this subject. They all make the same poor assumptions and illogical leaps in trying to discount the plane hitting the Pentagon.
If they took a little more time to obtain a solid knowledge base instead of wasting the brain power on idiotic theories, they'd be a lot better off.

God, I'm running through some of the new conspiracy sites. Christ, these people have got to get lives. I don't know if it's sad or frightening.

Well, there is no conspiracy theory as it is a proven fact that the goverment was responsible for 9-11. Check out www.infowars.com for more details.

"proven fact"
Uhm....
Yeah.
OK.
Whatever.
 :scrutiny:
I've always found it highly amusing that some of the same people who scream loud and long about the Government's collective incompentence also give it high marks for being able to carry out, and keep secret, conspiracies of this breadth and depth.
Yah.

Let's get a clear understanding of "conspiracy theory" first.
Are we talking about world domination by mysterous, unknown moneyed organizations bent on world rulership?
Or are we talking about UN sponsored NGO's whose task is to strap Gulliver down with thousands of threads?
Or are we talking about the seriously rich financiers and drug barons bending and twisting elected officials all over the world to their nefarious goals?
How 'bout the conspiracy of duly constituted government doing really boneheaded things then covering it up to protect pensions and lilly-white keesters?
Whatever your definition just remember tinfoil hats are off topic in the view of THR moderators.
