On my Uberti '58 Remington, the bolt is marking a ring around the cylinder. I can see the bolt work perfectly except for the last fraction of an inch of travel in the cylinder rotation, the bolt is coming up early and rubbing on the cylinder, putting a very distinctive mark, almost a groove, around the cylinder. The action is very positive, and it locks in battery very firmly, but that early appearance doesn't seem right.
I haven't tried to completely disassemble this gun yet, but wouldn't know what to look for or how to correct if I had it apart.
Any suggestions?

I entered " "cylinder stop" " in the advanced search box under this bp forum (among other things, such as " cylinder scoring") and came up with many threads including these as a place to start:
A properly timed SAA or DA Colt will drop the cylinder bolt in the leade. BP Colts and Remingtons have a short leade and generally drop the bolt earlier (like modern S&W's). If the spring is lightened a bit and the bolt polished some to remove sharp edges, there should be no problem. The only casualty will be the finish on the cylinder, again like a modern S&W. But only remove sharp edges on the bolt; don't round it off or you will have throwby.

Mines scored as well... but probably due to spinning the cylinder.

Well as mine, but it doesn't bother me any. My gun has been used so much a little groove on the cylinder wont matter.
