"Caesar is planning to cross the Rubicon with the army at his back and take over." "Don't be silly, Lucillus! Our laws forbid that!"

"We could whack the emperor and put his geeky brother on the throne as a joke. Go find him; I think he's hiding under the stairs."

7 out of 10 conspiracy theorists are probably paranoid schizophrenics.
2 out of 10 probably suffer from Baron von Munchausen Syndrome.
1 out of 10 needs to get a life and refrain from smoking marijuana on a twice-daily basis.
There, I think that should cover it.:D

From a historical perspective, it is difficult to find ridiculus conspiracy theories that have come true. Generally, it is the theory that is generated AFTER the supposedly conspired event. If true, it was true before the theory was created.

That one of Jesus` 12 disciples (sp?) would betray him...
Knowing FULL WELL that Jesus was the SON OF GOD,having seen him perform miracles, and cure the sick, and RAISE THE DEAD, even after being told at the "LAST SUPPER" that "One of them was going to betray Jesus, and that Jesus would be killed, and that it was PRE-ORDAINED to happen"... JUDAS STILL refused to "see the light", and he fulfilled the very prophecy that all 12 of them SWORE that night that none of them would EVER do...
Praise God, because now our DEBT is paid in full, a debt that we could NEVER pay on our own...

I don't know about ridiculous, but if you say "most ridiculed," then I believe the Tonkin Gulf incident is a good starting point. FOr years folks said it was BS or contrived; within the last few months we had stories in the paper that declassified documents proved that Pres. Johnson ran with a rumor without waiting for confirmation. And now we know the incident did not happen the way we'd been told .

How about that the president of the US had conspired with top intelligence officials to sell US weapons to a rogue nation on the US terrorist list in order to finance a illegal covert insurrection against a nation that the US had full diplomatic recognition of?
And top admin officials destroyed documents and lied to Congress to cover it up?
Nah, it's all just paranoia.

Read Winter Kills, by Richard Condon. Do a little background research.
If that don't scare the pants off you, nothing will.

Howard,
Peace to you.
From Matthew, chapter 26:
14 Then went one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests.
15 And said to them: What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you? But they appointed him thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from thenceforth he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 And on the first day of the Azymes, the disciples came to Jesus, saying: Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the pasch?
18 But Jesus said: Go ye into the city to a certain man and say to him: The master saith, My time is near at hand. With thee I make the pasch with my disciples.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus appointed to them: and they prepared the pasch.
20 But when it was evening, he sat down with his twelve disciples.
21 And whilst they were eating, he said: Amen I say to you that one of you is about to betray me.
22 And they being very much troubled began every one to say: Is it I, Lord?
23 But he answering said: He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, he shall betray me.
24 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him. But woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed. It were better for him, if that man had not been born.
25 And Judas that betrayed him answering, said: Is it I, Rabbi? He saith to him: Thou hast said it.
It was pre-ordained... there had to be a Judas. :)

One "Conspiracy Theory" I remember being bandied about for a while was that LBJ wanted to move up to President, and did so by assasination....
LBJ was the guy on the grassy knoll a couple of hundred yards away................

lapidator,
ix-nay on the onspiricy-cay. There could be liberals reading this forum, and we right-wingers don't want them to find about our vast conspiracy. ;)
