The Millet scopes are made in China. Generally speaking, having samples Chinese optics in the past, I'm holding off a few more years before sampling them again.

However,

I had the opportunity to closely examine the most recent Millet scopes at SHOT a couple of weeks ago. I do have to say that their most recent items, at least their top models on display at the SHOT which I am not sure are out yet, are very good as compared to the previous Chinese samples I've bought and tried and also compared to some of the other Chinese scope at the show.

The image was clear enough and did not distort all the way to the edge. The image filled the entire diameter of the ocular bell. The clicks on the tactical and target models had very little play between clicks. The representative went on on how Millet had set up a more rigorous quality inspection at the Chinese facility that also check image quality showing the comupterized testing setup used. Not sure if every scope was checked or just a production sample. After examining their scopes, I went straight back to UTG's booth and looked at their scopes again(which seem to come out of the same factory as Barskas, and others). Their scopes had displayed the shortcomings that I've seen in the Chinese scopes I have. IMage distortion, small image leaving a significant dark ring between it an dthe OD of the ocular bell, mish play between clicks in the turret, etc. They actually tried to hide the smaller image problem by putting a gasket/ring around the visible side of the lens making it seem like the image went all the way to the edge of the occular bell.

I'm not sure if the Millet scopes are also from the same factory but are manufactured and tested more thoroughly but they did seem to be much better in quality. It could also be that the UTG samples were of the previous generation and the Millets are of the newest one. The newest ones have improved gripping areas on the target turrets and side focus knobs.

Millett Red Dot scopes are extremely durable, and one of the cheapest Red Dots that are effectively parallax free. The image through the scope is noticably darker when keeping both eyes open, but it's not really bad.

No experience with their conventional scopes, though.
