Are 10mm and .40S&W bullets interchangable for reloading purposes?

you may already know, but the .40 s&W is simply a shortened 10mm caseing.

The bullets are the same. For the 10mm, I prefer 200 grain bullets, loaded to Norma's original spec of 1,200 fps. My second choice in this caliber is 180 grain bullets, loaded to around 1,250-1,300 fps.
For .40 S&W, I prefer 165 grain bullets, for no particular reason other than they shoot well for me. I don't shoot a lot of .40, but when I do, this weight bullet works well.
The 10mm case uses a large pistol primer, and the .40 case uses a small pistol primer. This was done for several reasons, but mainly because they didn't want extractors in .40 pistols setting off large primers before completely chambering. I was at the SHOT Show in 1991 when they announced the cartridge and guns, and this was emphasized at the time.
Hope this helps.
