Parade Magazine and Michael Moore

I was very happy to read this in this mornings Parade magazine, that little thing that comes with your paper:

Q: Do you think Michael Moore's political outburst at this year's Oscars will hurt his career?

A: No. But what could hurt is the growing perception that Moore, 49, invented facts and staged scenes for Bowling for Columbine, his Oscar-winning documentary about gun control in America. Some Academy members found his speech critisizing President Bush's "fictitious war" in Iraq hypocritical in light of what they call his "fictitious documentary." Moore's critics even have created a Web site calling for him to return his golden statue.

How cool is that!

That's great. I won't even bust her chops for saying "perception" about a proven fact.

(Well, maybe just a little.) :)

Like, wow, some of the fluffheads at Parade seem to be getting it and/or showing signs of critical thought. Normally, they routinely fawn over anything even remotely "Hollywood".

Wow...that's the second reply in personality parade in two weeks that has had a conservative bent. Last week there was some idiotic question about how Colin Farrell has impregnated some ho and asking "Who's the lucky lady?"

The reply said something along the lines of "we don't really consider her 'lucky' seeing as how she got pregnant out of wedlock with a notorious Hollywood badboy." I was glad to read that.

I think some of it might be due to the stink from the discredited reporter at the NY Times fiasco. Then CNN had Wayne Lapierre calling their report what it was...a bunch of fabricated one sided B.S.

Maybe there'll be some progress on seeing more than just the liberal side of things............maybe

I've run across some common sense there before:

Unexpected answer from a TRULY unexpected source....

I opened the Sunday paper today, and was reading through Parade magazine. Usually pretty harmless. It's rare that Parade takes a stand on anything much more contoversial than who makes the best brownies. There was a question on the first page, where they usually ask about celebrities hairstyles, or something.......

Q: Why did Arizona's Republican Sen. John McCain poke fun at Republican Attorney General John Ashcroft on "Saturday Night Live?"--Judith Morris, Chicago, Ill.

A: Because McCain, 66, is a Democrat in everything but name only.

Whats real sad is that speaking the unfiltered truth is considered "a conservative bent"

"Whats real sad is that speaking the unfiltered truth is considered "a conservative bent""

This has been one of my new pet peeves. My local paper has been printing some opposing views of the fine new Governor of Illinois. It has since been labeled a "right wing rag" by many. I think it's sad that people are so used to left wing reporting that when something near the middle is printed or spoken it's automatacally called "right wing". I know I'm preaching to the choir, but it still burns my britches.
