Hello,
This is my first post and looks like a great forum. I tryed searching for serial number info, but found only links for books. I recently was given a model 41, 5" barrel that is in great shape, about 95%. It's pretty old I think (sorry, old is relative, not saying you might be old:) ), serial number is A1355**. Any ideas on DOM and value? Thanks a lot

Date of manufacture is early 70's. No idea on its value.

A 95% Model 41 will go for at least $500, maybe more in some places. They are excellent target guns.
P.S. Please introduce me to the folks who give gifts like that!

Try posting over at smith-wessonforum.com in the autopistols forum. Tom Beckwith is quite knowledgeable.
Value depends on a lot of factors (your location, do you have the box, papers, tools, any accessories, standard or field bbl, etc.) Prices can go from 500-800 or even more.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. It was a hand me down I guess, as a gift. It's incredible to shoot.
