Rottweil Brenneke, $1.69/box of 5 at local Gander Mountain. Since I'm not a major consumer of slugs, I'd like to ask, is this a deal worth stocking up on, or nothing that great?
Thanks

Buy 10, try them out. If they group well in YOUR shotgun, get a messathem, good price.
One of my slug shooters likes these, but the KO Brenekkes are even better in it.
The Rottweils kick major tail on both ends.

My Winchester likes those about the best. That's a pretty good price, I may have to stock up. Of course, any reason to make a Cabela's run..... :D

That is a pretty good buy for slugs. As Mr. McCracken has suggested, buy 10 and try them out.
MY Maverick by Mossberg shotty didn't like those, but did very well with the PMC brand of slug. Finding the best slug/buckshot load for YOUR shotty is like finding the best ammo for your .22LR auto loader...ya gotta blast a bunch down range to find what works.
The PMC slugs worked very well for me, and when my local Gnader Mountain marked them down to $2.47 per box of 10....well, I have 250 slugs now.....:D
Am I the only one that still uses the old rifled slug? Always seemed to hit where I looked, just split cases of the 25 rd boxes for price break. Winchester/Western.
Have used the rifled slugs in 12,20 and.410, for these I just bought 5 pks to see what gun liked best and stuck with it. Guess, I'm gonna be hard pressed to buy some Federals at $1.34 for a 5 pk huh...knew I shoulda bought more at that price, funny that chain been gone for a bit , 20/20 hindsight again.
Guess that means these Active brand are not around anymore either -huh? Did so well out of an 11-48 too--darn.

73, the W/W 1 oz HP Forster style slug runs a close second to the KO in the 870 I use for deer. About 2 1/2" ETE at 50 yards from the bench.
Effect is awesome, very short blood trails.
Whew, Thanks Dave. Beginning to feel like I'd been left out here in the cold or somethin'.:D
Just always seemed to hit where aimed, what hit dropped, and consistent from lot to lot. Yep, they do leave a bit of an "impression" don't they.;)

Best Buddy saw me take a herd control doe with one a few years back. A center of shoulder hit at 35 yards left an entry wound three fingers wide. BB thought I was using some secret LE round.
