I'm looking for a folding stock for my Winchester Defender- 1300 that has the following:
a. Reduces recoil as I am sensitive to the 12ga
b. Would have a shortened stock- as I have short arms
c. Would be a decent quality.
Any help will really be appreciated.
Thanx

Why do you want a folding stock?

Sorry, can't recommend one. The shotguns I've shot with folding stocks had a worse felt recoil than a standard stock. A few were painful enough I had no desire to fire them again.

I always found that folding stocks increased felt recoil, not reduced it.

Ain't no such animal. Sorry...
Winchester makes a Youth stock for that. That might be your best choice for length.

thanks
Iwas really hoping to get one to make it easier for travel.
I remember reading somewhere about some wire stock that reduces felt recoil.

look at this. its not recoil reducing, but it's a folding stock. Except for storage and transport, folders do nothing better than a standard stock and most things worse. The smaller butts exacerbate recoil, and some are awkward when employed.
The old Remington 870 folder cut a fair number of cheeks before getting yanked from the market.

All folding stocks are BAD, and you're a BAD shotgunner for even THINKING about getting one!!! :D
The stock you're thinking of is the CopStock (http://www.knoxx.com/product/COPstock.html) .
Folding stocks ARE generally a trade-off in comfort, but the DO have their uses! I've been toying with the idea of putting one on a shotgun so I could stow it behind my seat in my pickup for "Copperhead reduction" (shoot a snake? oops, another naughty topic!) But if I did that, it would be a Winchester Defender so I could use those Aquila short-shells in it.

Has anyone tried that COPstock? Does it really reduce felt recoil?

I want a shotgun with a folding stock. Do you know why? Pump guns with all the tactical doo-dahs look ugly. Pretty soon, I'll bet they're will be a move to ban tactical pumps, too. Just get everything while you can.

No folding stock is gonna do #1. Almost none will do #2. #3 is attainable. You must ask yourself the question, do you want to drop $100+ on a stock or $100 on ammunition to train with?

If I want less recoil I would stick with the regular stock.
If you want a shorter stock get a wood one and saw it off.
I think you can attain a) and b) with a wood stock and just holding it better. I took a co-worker out shooting and at first he was hurtin but I showed him what I did and he said he felt little recoil.
As for c) I don't know. The only folding stock I would want would be the one on the M4Benelli. It looks cool.
But heck, if you want one and can afford it get it. I'd buy one and try it out for myself and if I didn't like it I'd sell it. Thats what I do with stuff for my shotty.
You don't know it till you've owned it :D
