My 80 year old neighbor showed me an old Hi-Standard .22 auto that her recently passed husband owned. It is a model HB and has a very short grip,
and an exposed hammer for single-action. I emptied the mag for her, as the
bullets were corroding and growing 'hair'.
Can anyone give me information on this gun, as she may sell it to pay off debts?
Take care,
AlvinAmerica

Follow this link http://www.histandard.info/models/pistols/hammer.html to John Stimpson's site. Historical info etc on the HB and all other High Standard models.

HBs usually bring about $300.00 to $400.00 in my area.
Hairy bullets can be tossed in but they won't add anything to the value.

These are one of the most common models of High Standard pistols made and fairly easy to find.

The guns are decent shooters and Colt Huntsman/Woodsman magazines will also work in most of them.

Thanks for the information.
I didn't know that these old autoloaders had external hammers,
it's an interesting pistol.
Take care,
