Another thread on handgun sales at out-of-state gunshows got me thinking. (A dangerous precedent!) The '68 GCA prohibits sales of handguns to other than state residents. The rationale at the time was so that states that required such could have background checks done on potential purchasers. OK, now we have the "instant background check" required for any handgun purchase. Why can't we purchase handguns at out-of-state gun shows or gun shops?

Since almost all laws are the result of compromises, the gun-grabbers have adopted a strategy of the "death of a million cuts" by constantly proposing gun-control bills, knowing that if they throw enough bills into the hopper, eventually some will come up for vote, and if they can't get all they want, at least they'll make headway. It's time we did the same. Propose laws allowing interstate sales of firearms at gun shows or by gun dealers, as long as positive identification was obtained by the dealer (which it is, anyway). If a person passes a background check, and is permitted to own a gun in his or her own state, why shouldn't (s)he be allowed to buy a gun anywhere (s)he chooses?

Obviously, because it would lead massive, immediate bloodshed in the streets. Anything that makes it more difficult for law-abiding American citizens to keep and bear arms makes the children safer, of course. Just ask any leftist extremist nitwit.
