Steyr trigger question.

I just picked up a NIB Steyr M9 for $300 and I had a chance to shoot it today and I am favorably impressed. The fit and finish are excellent, accuracy is good and it was totally reliable BUT the trigger was very heavy. I would estimate that it is in the range of 8-10 lbs. I think that this is too heavy for a ploymer DAO trigger. Does anyone know if this typical for a Steyr? If so, does anyone know if there is some way to lighten it up ala a Glock? I know that by judiciously polishing a few parts a Glock can attain a pretty nice trigger. Has anyone had any luck doing a similar thing to a Steyr?
Thanks.

You may have gotten one of the early production guns. The early guns had heavier triggers than the later ones. Steyr would do a free upgrade on the early guns for anyone wanting one.
But with Steyr's situation being what it is now, I doubt that's available.
I have an early production M40. The trigger is indeed heavier than the standard Glock trigger but it is consistent and short so it's fine with me. :)

Here's a link to the TFL thread that will help you determine if your M has the old or new trigger. Zundfolge provided pictures.

Ya, there is no way that the current Steyr trigger is heavier than the Glocks...My buddy Glock owner shot my Steyr today, he said he liked my trigger better.

I also happen to like the super short travel, makes follow up shots much easier.

This link (http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=107037) shows pictures of the original trigger and the upgraded trigger.
If your serial number is over 10,000, you probably have the newer trigger.

Well I checked my trigger relative to those shown in the pictures (Thanks!) and it looks like I already have the improved or updated one. The trigger stroke is short and the reset is great, it's just that the pull is too darn heavy. Is it safe to assume that I am stuck with it?
cheers

I would take it back to where I got it and test it against other Steyrs. Could be that your trigger is a little off.
