Thanks!

Greeting's Again To All-
Just to let you folk's in on a little secret, the Bessemer (AL)
police firing range is open to the public on the 1st Saturday
of each month; from 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs. The department
has assigned a LT. who is their range and safety officer;
commonly called "the rangemaster". New participant's must complete a short safety course on their first visit; then
participation will be permitted. These session's are limited
to handgun's only; NO other type of firearm will be
permitted!:uhoh: Also, the rules are simple:
1) NO ONE under the age of 21 will be permitted on the firing line-PERIOD!
2) Participant's MUST HAVE a valid ID and CCW license.
3) NO horseplay or loitering is permiited on the range; at any time!
4) NO LOADED WEAPONS WILL BE PERMITTED; UNLESS YOU ARE ON THE FIRING LINE!
5) NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMIITED ON CITY PROPERTY, AT ANY TIME!
6) ANY FIREARM to be used on the city's firing range
is subject to inspection by the rangemaster; to insure the
safety of all.
7) LISTEN to the rangemaster, as HE is in charge at
all times.
8) FAILURE on your part to adhere to these rules
will get you dismissed permanently from the firing range!
Very easy to understand these basic rules; hope to see
you guy's and or gal's out there this Sauturday, 06-07-03!
Best Wishes,

Johnny in Huntsville,
I live in Florence and know of the following:
North Alabama Shooting Association in Sheffield. Open competitions in IDPA, CMP Highpower and Rimfire Sporter, and RapidFire RimFire (a gallery type game designed by a Huntsville man.)
Muscle Shoals Trap & Skeet Club - north of Florence outside St Florian.
The Tactical Training Group runs IDPA matches at the Arab Pistol & Rifle Club, Larry's Ammo Dump (indoor range in Huntsville), and Hartselle Gun Club.
The North Alabama Regulators is a SASS club at Grant, near Cathedral Caverns.
Blue & Gray near Guntersville Dam shoots NRA Highpower, or did the last I heard.
Sharon Johnston Park at New Market has a pistol range and skeet fields; trap, too, I think.
There is another trap and skeet club pretty new near Huntsville someplace, I will check on it if you are interested.
There is a sporting clays facility around Ardmore.
Not that far up to Manchester Tenn for IDPA, and you can get NRA Long Range at Arnold Air Force Development Center at Tullahoma.
Lots of shooting done around Birmingham, I went to the Alabama IPSC Section Championship at the FOP Range in Pleasant Grove last Saturday, and the Alabama State IDPA Championship at Steel City Sport Shooting Assn in Hoover two weeks before that.
Most of these competitions are run for open entry by any safe shooter. If you want a place for casual shooting outside of matches, you will likely have to join the most convenient club to get access.

So how about during the week at Swan Creek? Tuesdays are good for me, except tomorrow :banghead: . Thursdays are good too. I get off from work anywhere between 3:00 and 4:00 and can be at the range in about 15-20 minutes from Trinity.
I would like to try an IDPA shoot, but alas, I suck. :)
Perhaps some kind soul could help me with my SW457.
Thanks!

Another huntsville shooter here. I usually shoot at Larrys or at Swan Creek. Let me know if you ever want to get together.
While i am at it. Does anyone know of another good range in Huntsville? i like Swan Creek i just hate driving that far since i usually only have an hour or two at a time to spend shooting and i hate to waste an hour driving out there and back.

I have shot out at Skyline, very beautiful place up in the mountains (hills). In the morning the sun is trying to poke through the clouds that are sleeping on the mountains, and the crack of gunfire echoes through the trees.
:scrutiny:
Really, it's a nice place to shoot, nice people there. I haven't seen any of the full auto guys like at Swan Creek. It's just different. I think I may take my dad up there this weekend.
