Stupid 870 question

I bought a 870P w/ 18" barrel and standard magazine tube. Isn't the mag. tube capacity 5 rounds?? I can only fit 4 rounds in the tube. It is Police model so there are no dimples in mag tube. Everything is remington factory (Mag springs, follower). Can anyone answer my dumb question and help me out?Thanks.

Standard 870 mags hold 4. When they say 5 it includes one in the chamber.

Dave is correct you can confirm this info in your owners manual or on Remingtons website.

Buddah, The only stupid question, buddy, is the one you don't ask. Do your research and then ask away. That's what the forum's all about.

Dave, There's an 870P in my local shop that's getting my attention. What's the compatability between this gun and an LC barrel for targets?

Not Dave, but...

Only difference should be a little more room between the fore-arm and the barrel. At least it works that way on my 11-87.

John, it'll work OK. A little more room as stated. The two tone finish may be off putting, but some of us LIKE two tone (or three tone) 870s.
