I've been wondering with all the wildcats out there if anyone has toyed with the 7.62x54R?

I haven't heard of any. Since pretty much the only widely available action is the MN, I don't think it'd be very popular.

That said, I think a 7x54R or 6.5x54R would be quite nice, ballistically.

There are actually quite a few, but they're not well known stateside. Scandinavian shooters have cooked up several. Check the Lapua handloading manual.

Finland as well...

there is a 6.5x53R IIRC...

I think it would be close to what a 6.5x284 is...and with it being rimmed, it would run excellent in a single shot...mebbe a martini action or a Encore.

With the growing number of Nagants flowing into this country I'm surprised more people here havent been toying with it. I would like to at one point but my knoweldge as of now is far too low.

I think the limiting factor isn't the number of MN actions available, but the cost of the wildcat barrels.

How many guys are willing to put a custom barrel on a $50-75 action? Plus you'd probably want to do some serious trigger work if you're going to get good tests of the accuracy.

But something like a T/C...that'd be great for the purpose.

T/C or the Ruger No. 1. I've long wanted to rig a No. 1 up to shoot a 54R wildcat. The cartridge is perfect for single shots, with its big rim and easy to grasp bottleneck design.
