Was just watching the news on Channel 20 (don't know the station -- I'm about 30 miles south of Springfield, IL) when I was amazed to see an editorial calling for Peter Jennings to step down because of two ABC reporters who have accused him of altering news he reads on the air to reflect his liberal viewpoint. :what:

I couldn't believe this was coming across the "real" media. Maybe the NYT false reporting fiasco is causing some in the news business to actually take a critical look at themselves!

Did a quick Google search and found this site, dated May 12, which is one of the incidents the local station was talking about.

Gary, where ya at? I live about thirty miles south of Springfield. Channel 20 is NBC, by the way. I suppose you figured out it wasn't ABC. ;)

Channel 20 is the last place anyone would ever want to go for actual news, so it must have been a national piece distributed by NBC. Interesting.

Oh, OK, it was the "Commentary" guy. I don't watch Storm Team 20, but I've heard about the Commentary. Channel 20 is now owned by some national conglomerate--maybe Clearchannel? They feed this guy's commentary section. It has a moderate (to my biased ears) conservative bent, which has the local liberals up in arms about the conservative takeover of the media.

The pieces are clearly marked "Commentary" and they're set apart from the "news" time (calling what Channel 20 does "news" is a stretch) but people are still mad.
