I have heard a lot of good things about this book and would just like to know more about it from you fine THR members. Anyone here have the book or have read it? What do you think, was it good, great, ok, fair, bad? Why or why not did you say what you do about it? Do you recommend it's purchase? What gun does he rate as the best? Thanks again!

Good Book, Boston is Biased, here are some reviews.

summed up, use what ever quality handgun works for you his preference is for glocks in 40 S&W.
for rifles he's changed his mind from 3 years ago after conversing at length w/ Fred (of m14 stocks). The M1A barely scrapes by the FAL as the FAL gets knocked for its crummy rear sight, trigger, and lack of a forward assist. However the last two are somewhat fixable, and place the FAL slightly ahead of the M1A. The AR-10 loses out because of its cruddy reliablity.

Outstanding Book.
Boston has done a complete revaluation on Battle Rifles.
The number one rated rifle is now the M1A (the M1 Garand turns out to be the easiest for snap shooting - don't believe me? read the book)

Indeed, Boston is biased in his weapon choices. On the other hand, he gives very clear and well-documented reasons for his likes and dislikes.
One can apply Boston's research to one's own requirements and come up with the best battle rifle for your own use.
My only complaint is that Boston didn't put the same level of research into pistols... Still in all, BGB is a fun and informative read.

I don't think the same level of depth was required for pistols. I mean if we were on planet pistola where stocks and barrels over 5 inches were banned than more depth might be called for, but as it stands 'pistols are what you use to fight your way back to your rifle (which you shouldn't have left in the first place)'

Boston included statements attributed to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Adolf Hitler in order to support the RKBA. Unfortunately, some of these "quotes" are well-documented hoaxes, and I was disappointed to see Boston taken in by them. If you're going to write a "bible," then it needs to be, well, free of error.
