Cleanest darn brass I've seen, tumbler times?

First time I ever forgot about my brass in the tumbler. Left it in at least 10 hours overnight. I use walnut media. Damn was that brass clean! It was Winchester 9mm once fired and I'd swear it looks shinier than when it was new. What's the longest you've left your brass in the running tumbler?

I use corncob and Franklin Arsenal (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=472108) brass polish and routinely leave it all night or all day while I am at work. Overkill for sure, but it is nice and clean and stays clean. Wears out your media faster. Many use Nu-Finish polish as an additive. :)

i don't like to tumble for more than 4 hours just cause i like to be a bit easier on the media.

Luggernut - I've done that more than once myself. I think overnight was my record also. Then I plugged the tumbler into a standard light/appliance timer and set it run for 2 or 3 hours at night. Never happened again.

UniqueTek.com has a neat countdown timer available. Check it out here (http://www.uniquetek.com/site/696296/product/T1263). I just bought two more of these for work-related needs. Lee is a good guy too.

I guess I'm just lazy, I have a couple of timers running around the shed somewhere. Good idea.
My record is 5 or 6 days!! Just forgot about it. It's out back in the shed. It was not any cleaner than 4 hours gets it.

$25 is a little expensive for a simple timer just to run your tumbler, but that timer has a lot of good features that I could use in some other applications. Thanks for the link, Empyrean. :)

On the jouster.com forums they had a few photos of tumblers that fried themselves after running extended periods of time. Be careful leaving them on too long, or leaving the house with them running.

I tumble for only a few hours, but I use untreated walnut shell from bird supply store, Nu Finish, and mineral spirits.

Corn or Walnut, lots of cleaner or a little, it all works the same for me:
1) Outside of brass clean in 1/2 hour.
2) Inside of necks still stained after 2 days.
And yet once fired processed brass from Scharch is clean inside the necks.

A brass brush chucked in a drill press and you can have clean necks also. Do it before you tumble. I don't worry about it on pistol ammo, but like to clean the necks on bottlenecked rifle rounds.

I use walnut from the pet store and Nu Finish wax as many others do. I have clean brass in a couple of hours I am sure, but I usually run it while I sleep. After 7 or 8 hours you can see yourself in it.. I know that shiny brass doesn't shoot any better but I sure look good shooting it.:D

I've been reading that for years and just never tried it until the other day when I just happened to buy some for the car. It actually does do a better job.
Live and learn I guess.
