Great article. Again showing the great need for home defense.

I hope the resident who was injured makes it and that by knowing the name of the perp who was killed that the police will be able to find and arrest the other 2 soon.

Chattanooga Box Score:

Good Guys 1
The Sleaze 0

Too bad it was not 3-0, and sad that one Good Guy was severely wounded. Perhaps the other 2 will get captured/taken out very soon.

There are no charges being filed at this time against the resident who shot Benn in self-defense, and detectives are currently seeking the two associates who robbed the Hispanic residents along with Benn.

Notice that the writer of the article doesn't seem to be displaying any left-leaning creative writing? No "allegedly robbed," and "self-defense" isn't something most media types like to use, either.

Since I've been into guns and gun rights, I've developed a sensitive eye to media spin, and there doesn't seem to be any here. Quite refreshing to see the facts without an injected opinion.

I wish the news services would provide the details of the weapons involved.

or as I was told by an anti self defense female , not to long ago;

" you guys are nuts , if we had stricter gun control or all guns were banned, criminals wouldn't have guns , there would be no need to have guns in the home"

or something equally stupid

:cuss: :cuss: :fire: :banghead:

WAGCEVP,

My knee-jerk comeback is, "Oh, you mean sort of like the same way criminals don't have drugs because they are banned?"

Follow ups are the idea of buying a gun at the local high school where the drugs are sold and that since criminals don't have drugs they obviously don't commit crimes as they don't need money to buy drugs.

That's IS a good comeback, Guy, And I have used that befiore myself. This particular time I guess I was just extra PO'd at her remark, esp after hearing about the La. serial rapist here in Atlanta..... I sent her the story about the La. Serial Rapist when he was La. I just said try telling that to THESE women!

Chattanooga, much like my former home Birmingham, is very much in favor of self defense. A city patrol officer predicted this would happen last week. He advised people, particularly the Hispanics that have been the targets, to defend themselves and that this would help the police to end the crime spree. As of today, they were going on information gleened from the witnesses to pursue the two surviving criminals.

There were several instances of this in Birmingham before I left. In one case, a man and his cousin were assaulted by a group at a nightclub. The man arrived home with his cousin only to be called by a friend and told that the same group was on their way to his house with guns. The man called the police, then took his SKS and sat crouched behind a tree in his front yard. The carload shows up, gets out brandishing pistols, and starts casing the house. The man yelled for them to drop their weapons, they shot, and if I remember correctly two died and two or three more were wounded. The chief DA went on the news after it happened and said he had no intention of filing charges. :D

Excellent point. I think that in general, guns are to liberals what drugs are to social conservatives. In both cases, the argument is that possession of the thing in and of itself is evil, and should be against the law because of what the owner *might* do. Gun-banners and drug-warriors alike tend to ascribe human characteristics to wood, metal and vegetable products, just as their ideological predecessors 100 years ago railed against "the Demon Rum" to rally support for alcohol prohibition. Nowadays we're told essentially that a gun become evil when it has both a pistol grip and a bayonet lug.
