Very cool but seems pretty unsafe, in addition looks like its having issues with all the weight up front, seems like a full size pistol would provide similar results with much less weight.

hehehe wish I had that kinda money. Looks like a load of fun to develop such machines. Could probably do wonders for our guys in Iraq too...
I can see why they chose a shotty - much easier to hit something with it thatn a pistol. Although a FA M16 would probably have been easier.

Nah the shotty is easiest that is why it was chosen. Something that shoots dozens of rounds at a time will be much easier to wound or kill with in a single pass than precision rifle shots. When your limited by weight to a small number of rounds you want powerful rounds, yet a couple dozen powerful misses wont do you much good.
They also can use the frag 12 shell in this that is a high explosive grenade essentialy for anti material or area of effect roles.
Wounding dozens of enemies is better than killing a couple in war. The troops can move in and easily handle dozens of wounded, but they would have more trouble with a couple dead and several unharmed fighting back.
The only way to insure this toy is not destroyed is to have it attack while on the move, if it has to hover then it will be shot down. So if something is that small, and you want it to be cheap and affordable enough to be widely used (unlike the predator drone) then the shotgun makes a lot of sense as you can strafe accurately without adding thousands and thousands of dollars worth of targeting systems that could fall into enemy hands. When strafing with shot a lot more hits will be scored per flyover than with guns firing in a straight line.

This guy isn't trying anything new.
Believe me, we have plenty of stuff that puts this to shame already.
Predator is just the one that everybody knows about.
If I saw that thing coming on the battle field, I would introduce it to my scattergun. :neener:
It is kinda neat though.

I'm with boersun on this one; a FA 22 like an American 180 would be light enough that you'd be able to lift it PLUS a minicam targeting system PLUS a full drum of ammo for less weight than that AA12, and you wouldn't have a big recoil impulse to move it off aim when you fired it.
