My very first pistol! Milsurp, of course. :D

CZ-82. 9x18 Makarov, DA/SA, and a proper manual safety. Yay C&L carry (once I get my concealed carry permit).

From shooting today (I was on Range 2 at PDHSC (http://www.pdhsc.com))...

Roommate modeling the CZ82:

Me shooting the CZ82 (video link):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/StilettoOne/Guns/CZ82/Session2.jpg (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~fchen2/FrankCZ82.wmv)

Me shooting plates on the 590 (video...also, you're not supposed to do this—the range staff came and bitched at me, apparently you can blow off the hinges shooting the plates with a shotgun):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/StilettoOne/Guns/CZ82/Session1.jpg (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~fchen2/Frank590.wmv)

Roommate trying to use the 590 (video):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/StilettoOne/Guns/CZ82/Session3.jpg (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~fchen2/Andrew590.wmv)
If that doesn't establish firmly that shotguns are NOT the ultimate n00bcannons, I don't know what would.

Me trying to use the Speedfeed stock (video):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/StilettoOne/Guns/CZ82/Session4.jpg (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~fchen2/FrankSpeedfeed.wmv)
Apparently, the left bay on mine won't retain a single shell under recoil, although it does OK with two in there. Weird.

That speedfeed stock looks awkward to use.

Nice vids though!

I was expecting to pull from the left side bay, which is why I was using my left hand to pull the shell out—normally I would lay the shotgun across my left arm and pull a shell out using my right hand. But I found out that it can be done without too much hassle wrong-handed. :)

You got the piece in 9 millie short. Is .380 ammo 9x18 or 9x17 i don't remember? Either way I like it's old school look, fixed barrels are normally accurate.

9x18 Makarov.

.380 == 9x17. What he's got is 9mm Makarov (9x18). Makarov FAQ, towards the bottom. (http://www.makarov.com/makfaq.html)

Congrats!
Wish I had a range here that would let me move and fire. I'm sure I'll get someplace that lets it happen eventually.

Noticed a few odd items with your shooting style, I'm not going to play amatuer instructor here, I'm simply going to suggest that you find an instructor to run through stuff with ya. Believe me you'll appreciate it in the long run.

Enjoy the pistol!

The CZ-82 is a nice pistol that has taken the Makarov design as far as it can be reasonably taken. You will enjoy the pistol, the Czechs build things to LAST. I have 3 CZs, a CZ-24, CZ-52, and CZ-75 BD. Haven't gotten around to the 82 just yet.

Yes, this seems to be true. You can get another part of the story, and one certainly more complete, from the last entry of this livejournal poster http://jessicalois.livejournal.com/ who apparently knew SN (Frank).

All I can say is that I hope you found the peace you needed, Frank.

I never even knew the guy.

My eyes burn and my breathing hurts.

No one should be allowed to arrive at this kind of hopelessness.

I can't even string platitudes together.

Sometimes, all it takes is a friend.
A friend is someone who cares how your life turns out.

Fair winds, and a following sea.

Stiletto is the guy who turned me on to THR. I've been posting on another board with him for years.

I don't know what to say.

I remember him.
Some days, I really just want to walk away from everything and start over where nobody knows me.

I wish you had, bro.
God Speed!

I will pray for your Stiletto.

If anyone on this board feels similar despair, I beg you to talk to someone. Especially your family no matter how estranged. A friend. A doctor. You probably don't realize how many people really do care for you. Give them a chance to pull you back into life.

If you feel your life is worthless then get out and start helping others. You'll be amazed how much better you feel about yourself when you give someone else a helping hand. Soup kitchen. Habit for Humanity. Local church groups. Salvation Army.

I am an old guy but I have had three people in my younger years shoot themselves. One was a high school buddy and two were fathers of friends. Invariably those of us left behind think, "If only I knew how bad he felt, I would have done anything to help out."

I am sorry to here of SN's passing. I hope we do not lose anymore. We joke and tease and argue, but all the folks here are really good people.

Just so everyone knows, the topic at hand here has unofficially moved over to this thread.

What amazes me, is that my 10 year old son and I were the ones waiting for them to finish on Range 2 at PDHSC when they were getting barked at for unsafe practices. I had no idea who he was or that he was a THR brother. If I had, I would've said hello and spent a few with him.

Damn shame.
