Just bought another 58...an urberti. Noticed alittle taint of rusty color in the barrel. New gun and all, what's the first thing I need to do to get this barrel clean. I ran a clean patch through it when I got it home. That's when I noticed it was just alittle discolored orange. Thanks in advance...Teresa

Tess, a light brushing down the bore and a little bit of some non-petroleum based oil to coat the bore should do the job. When you shoot it first burn the oil off by firing a few caps before you load it.

And if Cap n Ball's suggestion doesn't get the job done, work a couple of patches of bore paste (J-B's, Iosso, Flitz, etc) thru the bore, then clean it well and lube it well.
Most of these pistols respond well to the bore paste regardless, as it will smooth out the rough spots in the bore, improving accuracy right off the bat.

Teresa, try brushing the bore using some gun oil on the brush. If that doesn't clean it out, you can wrap some fine steel wool around the brush and use oil on it too. Steel wool and oil is a great way to remove a rust pit on the outside of the gun without harming the bluing, so it's certainly not going to hurt the bore any.
