Black Chrome Wear Characteristics

I was thinking of having a pistol black chromed. The particular company states that this finish is to be considered decorative unless placed over a stainless gun. Has anybody done this to a stainless gun and how is the wear?

Do a search about black and hardchrome here and on TFL. There are many threads on this.

Black chrome is not as hard and tends to scratch. It is not used in toolmaking (like hardchrome) and is more for cosmetic purposes.
