Hi guys,

I was given an MX-8201A/PVS-3 Night Vision Sight Subassembly for christmas and I know nothing about it. Does anyone know what kind of batterys these take?

or how to check them for service?

or where I can get a mount adapter to take it from the stock M14 mount to the AR15/M16 A2 carry handle mount?

I'm also missing the rubber eyepiece.

I'm stoked to get a night scope, but I really don't know anything about this.bad boy.

It looks like you just need the AN/PVS-3 Modification Kit from here (http://www.night-vision.com/html/specials.html) for $85, and the manual here (http://www.military-info.com/mphoto/p039.htm) for 5 bucks. It is TM 11-5855-209-10 Operator’s Manual. Night Vision Sight, Miniaturized AN/PVS-3 (December 1967)(+Changes 1-5); 23 pages, 8 illus. Price 5.00 {Item No.2463}.

You may want to go ahead and get the TM 11-5855-209-40P General Support and Depot Maintenance Repair Parts and Special Tools List. Night Vision Sights, Miniaturized AN/PVS-3 and AN/PVS-3A (13 October 1971); 27 pages, illus. Price 6.00 {Item No.2465}

I'm not sure of the battery, but I bet those manuals will have the info on it. I have been told that there is a real simple conversion to the regular N-type battery... but I don't want to mislead you, so I recommend the manuals. :D

My pvs-3 takes two 1.5 volt large watch batteries. If polarity is wrong, the scope won`t light up.
