You cannot beat them for the price. Mine is reasonably accurate & reliable. I just wish they made them to take a pre-ban hi-cap mags like a S&W 59, Sten or Uzi mag. I had a posy over at TFL about bombarding Hi-Point with e-mails requesting a version that took surplus pre-ban hi-cap mags.

I have had one for quite some time. I like it quite a bit. These PRO/CON listings are from my experiences.

Pros:
--Inexpensive to own and shoot
--light weight(compared to other rifles)
--Lifetime warranty, no questions asked
--Extremely accurate
--Extremely reliable
--comes with a weaver rail to mount scopes
--decent iron sights
--Shortness makes for a decent house gun
--Rated to fire +P and +P+
--You can get scopes and laser sights designed specifically for the carbine

Cons:
--Has a bit of vibration when shooting, feels weird, but has no affect on accuracy that I can tell.
--In order to put the scope rail on, you have to take the rear sight off and dismantle the receiver. Not a hard thing to do, but a real pain in the butt.
--Not the best looking carbine out there
--Can only get 10 round magazines

I'd say for the money they are hard to beat.

I can't say enough good things about mine.

*With a 4-16X scope, mine will shoot 1 hole at 50 yards all day long with pretty much any kind of ammo (never tried it farther).

*With a cheap BSA red-dot scope, it will bust clay pigeons at 100 yards all day long

*probably 600+ rounds through mine and it's never misfired

*neat acc. like compensators and touch-laser sights are available (got both)

however, it IS ugly and the trigger initially sucks (but gets better the more you shoot it). The ten round mags go dry fast, too.

I took a turkey with mine this past spring (scoped setup).

Do you have a specific purpose in mind or is this just for plinking/fun?

If you expect to use it for anything resembling hunting, I'd suggest casting your gaze elsewhere. If you want something fun and cheap to shoot for watermelon demoralization, then have at it.

I just shot mine today for the 2nd time, and it shot great, was accurate, and no jams at all............for the money, it's hard to beat this little carbine as a plinker.............probably make a nice little camper gun also................

Saw a used one for sale for $130 last week. See them all the time going for $99. I'll wait. Had one when they first came out, got all the bells and whistles. They seem just fine to me despite some of the posts I've read. If Kel-Tec can ask $350 and up for their Sub2000 (quality seems on a par with the Hi-Point to me) then the Hi-Point is one of the best bargains available.
