I've thought about getting an FFL, but it's too much hassle. Most of the requirements are straight forward. But the requirement that you must have a legitimate place of business is the killer for me. That means having to get a local business license and the headaches that go along with it (fees, insurance, taxes). Not to mention that you have to open your entire life to ATF scrutiny.

I gave mine up about 25 years ago, at that time it wasn't a big deal to get one and it was very nice to have! Ah.........those were the days :)
Otherwise, ditto to what RNB65 said.

The BATF started the business of insisting that you had a place of business open to the public etc. This pretty much ended the practice of the individual who wants to buy guns for himself and his buddies at distributor prices. Or the dealer who just wants to have a few tables at gun shows. I believe this happened during the Clinton administration years. Good old Bill. Everyone just seems to love that guy.

Bush could have reversed this if he had wanted to. The "Stroke of the pen, law of the land, pretty cool" thing works both ways.
