I'm going to be in Miami/Ft Laud. next week. Is there some way to apply for a Fl. CCW at a range or something? Any help appreciated.

I don't know what state you are from but Florida is reciprocal with a lot of states. If you have a CHL license from another state, check to see if they reciprocate.
When I went to Florida I took my gun because the reciprocate with Texas.

I wonder how that works with states that have now CCW (ie, Wisconsin) because that might be nice when I am there, driving a van with tons of expensive equipment in shady areas, also in Tennesee for that matter...

If you have a CCW from your home state Florida will probably honor it, check www.packing.org or www.handgunlaw.us. If not you can apply by mail to get a Fla CCW but it will take up to 90 days after getting all your info and fingerprints sent in. Jim.
