Saw a few Colt folding knives with Tanto points and serrated edges.
Was wondering if anyone had experience with long term use of one of these?
Please respond here or Pm me.
How is the lock over time, does it loosen up?
How difficult to sharpen?
How well does it keep its edge?

Bear in mind that (Colt/Smith&Wesson/Harley Davidson) pocket knives are made by RedArmyCo in China out of cheap 440C and brand labeled by their respective companies.
The only knife of this type that I own is a S&W "powerglide" for the novelty factor. I don't actually use it for anything, mind you...

That is a shame. I have one of the Colt straight knives which I have been using to gut my kills for 5+years and it is a dandy. Have no idea who made it, but it is some kind of stainless steel, hollow ground, with a very comfortable synthetic handle which is easy to grip even when your hands are bloody.

Life is too short for cheap folders :barf:.

You're right about that Jim! I'm still carrying a Gerber folder I bought with a gift certificate from Sears-prolly the best $25 I've spent in a while. Easy to sharpen and holds an edge pretty well. It's certainly not a pretty knife, but its my daily utility knife. One of these days soon, I'm going to look for one of those sexy $100 models people seem to brag on a lot-any ideas?

My recommendations on folders are at the bottom of this page:
http://www.equalccw.com/knifelaw.html
Before that is a big chunk on California knife law, but when you see the pics, you're there. Eight are mentioned, and WHY I like 'em.
Prices start at $40 or so.
And I don't *sell* knives myself, so while there's bias (there always is!) it's not extreme :D.

We sell alot of Colt, the price is good, but as quality goes, the firefighter and police models are good, the rest is "ok" Paul
