Was just wondering if anyone here has bought supplimental FA insurance through NRA or other insurers.

Was wondering how they appraised your coolecftion? And where to get the best rates?

Are there discounts for sfaes/alarms/fireproofing etc?

Thanks.

Dr.Rob

I have a firearm rider on my homeowners policy, because I must. My policy limits the covered guns to $1000 or $2500, so after I bought my fourth gun, I needed more insurance. I have a good homeowners policy, so changing to NRA didn't make sense for me.

I have continued to buy more coverage simply on the chance of a "total loss" rather than paranoia about theft.

i do use the NRA prescription plan, though, it's great.

Dr. Rob.
I have.
I've been with the same Ins. Co. since the early 70's. Vehicle Rent/Home...etc. I automtically ( as most co. do) have "x" amount of Ins. for guns, furs,jlry....

A Separate rider is available and one pays a rate per thousand , for additional coverage. Depends on value and how many firearms, one may be required to make "safer". Regular Joe with 3 guns total value of $1k vs the guy with 2 custom sets of Kreigoffs at $35K each.

Better safes have the UL , TR/TL ratings--determine the 'resistance' of fire and tool penetration, rates based on this. Alarms are rated also

I would check with personal agent. I would also check policy of various Ins co. I've been with the same people so long, for everything.Mine ( AFAIK are ok) Others have shared their co is anti-gun and a bit too nosey and really not sure about giving this info to a co that 'might ' use it in the wrong way.

FWIW, I have a shooting buddy that is an Ins agent, I'm not insured by him, but he has told and said to his shooting buddies/insured

"Don't tell everybody everything you have...one can easily see what the various Ins home offices do with all the info they receive". Its one thing to insure a nice double rifle, none of the home offices business how many firearms at $300 you have. If its black and been in the news...I rather see you take a it, than a knock on the door...".

food for thought...

Greeting's All-

Year's ago, I had my firearm's covered by a Prudential
policy. If memory serves me correctly, I was paying about
$32.00 every six-month's. Later on, I relocated to a better
dwelling; and I didn't feel like I needed it anymore. Now
day's, I have state-of-the-art security*; 24-7!

I pay extra on my house insurance policy for firearms and computer gadgetry—and if my agent doesn't straighten out my car insurance P.D.Q., he's going to lose the premiums on both accounts.

My shootin buddy is a Farmers agt., they seem to be ok. He was referring to another Ins Co. Dure to 'professional courtesy he really wouldn't say whom wee anti..."but a search will tell you" he said.

Mine allows for $2500 in firearms, gun furs...lot a good the later does me, single and all. Maybe I need a bear skin rug...that work?

If you rent and have renter's insurance, make sure you are
covered as well. The former company I was with wanted to
charge extra to cover firearms and their price was almost double
what I am paying now. It pays to check around.

I recently signed up, just listed the firearms covered, not the serial numbers. I also listed the value of each, as I see it.

This is in addition to H/O rider policy.
