This is the first time i heard this noise. I had the gun pointing upwards and once i turned it upside down i heard something go down with it, something lose. I thought i was hearing things so i turned it upwards again and heard the same, then it stopped. When it stopped, i lightly slapped the side of the gun (right where it says 870 Express) and i heard it again.. it sounded like a spring, making a "slinky" type noise. Is this normal? I've only shot 25 rds through it.

I think what you are hearing is the plug in the magazine tube sliding back and forth. It is normal.

If you can't load but two rounds of ammo in the mag, then there is a plug in there. Refer to manual for removal instructions. The plug is in there for waterfowl hunting purposes (where you are limited to two round in the mag)
If you aren't going duck hunting, remove it.

The other common noise is in synthetic stocks.
Remington puts a star washer on the stock bolt to keep the main washers in place during assembly.
This star washer tends to slide up and down the stock bolt on synthetics.
To get to it, you have to remove the stock.

Negative, it's not the magazine plug. My 870 didn't come with one. Is this something i should worry about?

I think as long as every time you pull the trigger and it goes boom (safely that is), then it's nothing to worry about.

Field strip and troubleshoot...maybe a loose spring in the trigger housing?

That is most likely what it is. I had the exact same issue and I was going nuts trying to figure it out. The above mentioned washer was the problem with mine. My brother in laws new 870 makes the same noise and I am guessing it the washer with his as well.
Taking the stock off is not that big of a deal. I am by no means good at working on stuff, but I figured it out and the noise is gone.

So? Did you take it apart yet to see if we were right?
