Once I saw some videos of really fast cowboy-action shooters, but can't find them anymore. Anyone in the sport know the good sites for these?

Go to www.jspublications.net They have some video (look at world records) of people shooting very fast with the different guns used in cowboy shooting. These are not shooters shooting in a match. They are broken down into categories and shooting at a large close target. You can see how fast the guns can be manipulated although this is not normal match speed. There are also some End of Trail videos (articles, tips and help) of actual match competition on the site. If you check out in particular Lead Dispencer or Badlands Bud you'll see some cowboy shooting.

Not the absolute fastest I've ever seen but he could beat me by a fair margin (I tend to be in the top 1/3 but have never gotten close to winning)

Impressive...but then again, those are what we would call "mouse fart" loads...I'd like to see him do that with my full power .45 Colt loads I use.

This is me shooting a Western 3 Gun stage. We had a camera built onto earmuffs so you get a shooters eye view. I'm shooting blackpowder in 44 special revolvers, 44-40 rifle, and 12 guage double shotgun. In W3G you are allowed to move with a cocked and loaded gun as long as your finger isn't in the trigger guard. I'm shooting the revolvers with one hand (Duelist) which isn't the fastest way. A lot of cowboy shooters do shoot light target loads but depending on where the camera and mic are the shots sound even lighter than they are. Of course the black powder booms a bit more.

That's the stuff, and those JS help videos are awesome. The exact videos I had in mind were individuals and it was outdoors in a grassy area, but those were better.

The jspublications website has some videos explaining the different techniques to load your shotgun on the clock. In cowboy action stages you generally start with the handguns and rifle allready loaded but the shotgun is empty and how smoothly and quickly you can load the shotgun makes a big difference in your times. Beginners can lose a lot of time when fumbling around trying to load the shotgun. In the Western 3 Gun video you might notice that you can stage the shotgun with shells in the chambers of the double barrel as long as the gun is not fully closed when staged, action still partly open.

This video shows Jerry Miculek doing:
- 8 rounds on one target in 1 second
- 8 rounds on 4 targets in 1.06 seconds
- 6 six shots, reload and 6 more shots on one target in 2.99 seconds
All with double-action revolvers
